At 888 Rentals, we offer a trusted and successful consignment program designed to help you earn from your beautiful designer pieces with ease. We accept high-quality dresses and outfits of all sizes from across New Zealand.
Once your garment is with us, we take care of everything:
- Dry cleaning
- Bookings
- Advertising
- Postage
- Returns
You won’t need to lift a finger - just sit back and earn. We’ll only contact you in the rare event your garment is severely damaged. In this case, the client will be responsible for repair or replacement costs.
Your Earnings
As a consignor, you’ll receive 40% of the rental price, after shipping and cleaning have been applied. Payments are made via bank transfer at the beginning of each month, based on bookings from the previous month.
What to Expect
Your item may be rented multiple times, so gentle wear and tear is normal. If you have concerns about this, we're always happy to chat with you.
We kindly ask that all garments be freshly dry cleaned or washed before arriving to us. If a garment does not meet our quality standards upon arrival, we’ll take care of cleaning and invoice a small fee if needed - we’ll always handle it with care.
You are welcome to withdraw your garment at any time, provided there are no upcoming bookings. Need it for your own event? Just let us know - we’ll reserve it for you with no fuss.
Listing Your Garment
All garments are carefully reviewed by our team before being listed on our website and Instagram. Approval is based on:
- Quality and condition
- Style and relevance to our customer base
- Overall rental potential
We aim to review and respond within 7 business days. If your item is approved, we’ll send over a consignment agreement to be signed before listing your garment.
Consignment terms run for 3 to 6 months, with the option to renew. If your garment doesn't receive interest during this time, we may return it earlier.
Please note: While listed with 888 Rentals, your garment must not be available for rent or sale elsewhere.

Terms and Conditions
Term of Agreement
1.0 Term of Agreement
1.1 This consignment agreement becomes effective once the Consignor contract is signed and approved by 888 Rentals.
1.2 The standard consignment term is 3 to 6 months, with the option to renew by mutual agreement.
Roles & Responsibilities
2.0 Roles & Responsibilities
2.1 The Consignor agrees to supply designer garments as mutually approved. All garments must be in excellent condition and freshly dry cleaned upon arrival.
2.2 888 Rentals reserves the right to return or decline any garments that do not meet the required standards (see Section 3.0).
2.3 888 Rentals will actively promote and rent the Consignor’s garments via its website, social media, and ambassador channels.
Note: Garments may be loaned to brand ambassadors. These are unpaid rentals used or marketing purposes and can provide valuable exposure for your piece.
2.4 Rental payouts will be issued to the Consignor in the first week of each month, based on bookings from the previous month.
Garment Acceptance Criteria
3.0 Garment Acceptance Criteria
3.1 All items must:
- Be less than 18 months old
- Be in new or excellent condition
- Arrive clean / dry cleaned
3.2 Any alterations to the garment (e.g. resizing, structural changes, hardware or trim modifications) must be disclosed.
3.3 888 Rentals reserves the right to inspect all garments and may reject any that do not meet our brand standards or customer demand.
3.4 If a garment becomes damaged or altered after it is received, the Consignor will be notified and the item will be returned via tracked courier.
3.5 Once accepted, 888 Rentals assumes full responsibility for the care and safekeeping of the garment.
3.6 In the event a garment is lost, stolen, or damaged beyond repair while in our care, the Consignor will be compensated the full original retail price of the item.
3.7 The Consignor acknowledges that natural wear and tear may occur from multiple rentals and accepts this as part of the consignment process.
Ownership of Items
4.0 Ownership of Items
4.1 The Consignor confirms that they are the rightful owner of all items consigned or have full permission to act on the owner’s behalf.
4.2 While garments remain the property of the Consignor, 888 Rentals holds exclusive rental rights during the contract period.
Authenticity
5.0 Authenticity
5.1 All garments must be authentic.
5.2 By consigning, the Consignor confirms that all branding, logos, and tags are genuine.
5.3 Any counterfeit items will be returned immediately and may result in exclusion from future consignment with 888 Rentals.
Consignment Terms
6.0 Consignment Terms
6.1 The consignment period is as outlined in Clause 1.1.
6.2 If the Consignor wishes to wear their garment during the consignment period, they must notify 888 Rentals at least 14 days in advance. If the garment is already booked, 888 Rentals reserves the right to decline the request.
6.3 All listed garments will remain available for rent via our website and Instagram throughout the duration of the agreement.
6.4 For 6-month contracts, if a garment is not rented within the first 3 months, 888 Rentals may un list and return the item.
6.5 Should the Consignor request early return of a garment, 888 Rentals will release the item once all future bookings have been fulfilled. If the item is urgently required and has active bookings, the Consignor must cover the cost of any refunds for cancellations.
Pricing
7.0 Pricing
7.1 Rental prices are set by 888 Rentals based on brand, garment type, and market demand. The Consignor must provide the original retail price or proof of purchase where available.
7.2 In the event of a promotional discount, the reduced earnings will be shared 40% to the Consignor, 60% to 888 Rentals, based on the final discounted rental rate.
Payment
8.0 Payment
8.1 The Consignor will earn 40% of the rental price, after applicable shipping and cleaning costs are deducted. Payments will be made to the Consignor’s nominated bank account in the first week of each month.
8.2 For backup orders (where the garment is sent as an alternative option and not worn), the Consignor will receive 20% of the total backup fee. If two backup pieces are included and not worn, the Consignor will receive a combined 40%.
8.3 The Consignor is responsible for managing their own tax and accounting obligations on earnings received through 888 Rentals.
